The Best Saturday Mornings

Happy Saturday morning whimzies!
The photographer's description of this photograph: "Subzero freezing temperatures outside, but we're sleeping warm inside."
I don't know about you but this picture makes me want to jump in the bed and snuggle!  However, on this Saturday morning I am with my mom's gym in Knoxville, TN for a cheerleading competition ... so I only wish this was a picture of my morning!  What do you have planned for today?

Winter Blues? Think of the Beautiful Things Winter Brings...

Everywhere I go, I hear people complaining about the winter weather.  I often wonder why people complain, after all...God is the weather man.  Why not enjoy what he puts in the forecast?  What ever weather we may be getting (sunshine, rain, or snow) is happening for a reason.  With that in mind...lets think on the beautiful things of winter.  I know that my favorite things about this season are the beautiful clothes and accessories we get to wear!  And what about the warm cups of tea and coffee?  Or snuggling up in a warm blanket by the fire?  How can we forget the woodland creatures scurrying around outside?  Aren't they fun and amazing to watch?  I rounded up some of my favorite winter finds from etsy to add a little inspiration from the season and to cheer up those with the winter blues!

What is your favorite thing about winter?

Have a Radiant & Whimzical day:)

What are you dreaming of?

What weather are you dreaming of?  Well...I know most people in our little town would kill be angry with me for saying this, but I am dreaming of snow.  And I hear we are in for more beautiful snowflakes.  I was subbing today in our local middle school and we were released early due to winter weather!  Snow day for me and a full day's pay check for half a day's work:)  Ahhhh....I love it!

What is the weather like where you are?

Whimzical Wednesday's: Today I am Loving Papercut Art & Romance

I love to shop online, however I rarely have money to actually shop with.  Instead, I use online "shopping" as a way to release my inner shop-o-holic and channel a somewhat creative way to convince myself that I am shopping.  I go to all of my favorite online shops and place everything I want in the shopping cart-the catch?  I never make a single purchase, however I feel as though I have been shopping the whole time!  While I was doing a little "retail therapy" I came across these beautiful but simple papercut art silhouettes.  Aren't they dreamy?  I can just see these all over our home!

What do you think?  If you are one of those lucky people who have some money burning a hole in your pocket, go to etsy.com and purchase some of these pieces for your home!  They are sure to fill the air with that butterfly's in your stomach, foot pop kind of love!

Maybe I like this type of art because it resembles one of my favorite pictures from our wedding...wouldn't it make a great papercut art piece?

Actually, the photographer (Brittany McConnell) created many silhouette's from our big day.  I love the artistic nature of these photos...

Do you have any papercut art inspired photos?  Please share!

Embellishing Fancies

We all have a different view of style.  It took me a long time to figure out what defined my personal style, but it was so much fun to research how others perceived beauty along the way.  Through my journey of discovering what I liked (regardless of what the fashion police might say) I discovered that there are no best or worst dressed lists.  A closet is like a palette of paints that we choose to adorn our canvas *ourselves:).*  Your personal style should whisper a little bit about yourself to a complete stranger before you even say a word.  A word of advice?  Don't always follow high fashion...(been there done that) and I promise you that you'll end up looking at old pictures searching for the nearest trash can!

In honor of premiering the Embellishing Fancies post of The Radiant World of Whimz...I want to share with you some of my PERSONAL style inspiration and icons:

Jackie O
I don't think anybody describes Jackie Kennedy's influence on style better than Cynthia Rowley...
"She taught us that style doesn’t have to be complicated. I remember seeing a picture of her walking in the park by her apartment in a sweater, really simple trousers, flats, and that sort of changed everything for me in a design sense.  You can be really fashionable and really simple at the same time.”
(Cynthia Rowley, Designer)
Can't agree more!

Jessica Simpson
I have always been a fan of Jessica's style. I love to look at the way she pieces her outfits together.  I can remember in high school meeting a stranger on the beach to get a knock off Louis with my mom and a friend.  Those were the days!  What is even better is that she has her own line of clothing and accessories!

Kelly Ripa
Oh how I love Kelly Ripa!  I drink coffee with her and Regis EVERY morning, and her style never ceases to inspire me.  She never looks like she is trying out every the newest fashion trend, and I admire that.  She always seems to be wearing something classic that will never go out of style.  In fact, a quote from her stylist, Faith Cromas, has been something I always try to keep in mind when shopping:

Faith's approach to styling is both simple and elegant - which is very much reflected in her clothing choices. First and foremost she avoids trends, instead focusing on what's truly special about each individual, making fashion looks that each celebrity can definitively call their own.

It's exactly this philosophy that has created a style sensibility for Kelly that so clearly celebrates her femininity, sense of humor, and the joy for life that she brings to each and every show.

Have you checked out kellie's fashion finder on livewithregisandkelly.com?

Lauren Conrad
This lady is so admired for her great sense of style that she wrote a book by the title, "Style."  I highly recommend this read for anyone!  She really gives the reader great advice for defining a personal style while sharing her love of fashion.  Lauren is another that goes for the feminine and classy style that I have come to know and love.

Audrey Hepburn
Need I say more?  I tend to gravitate toward vintage style.  My favorite?  The 40's and 50's...I wish I had been apart of that era JUST to wear their amazing A-line dresses that drop down to the low knee.  These seem to be so hard to find today, everything seems to get shorter and shorter!  Okay...I'm going to get off of my soap box and back to Audrey...Her style is timeless and amazing.  Enough said.

I will leave you with a quote:
"For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others."

Meet the Adams Family!

Just Married December 12, 2009 <3

Cade and I on our Honeymoon, December 2009

We welcome you to "Radiance and Whimz"

The inspiration behind the logo...Meet Penny Noel

This is our Zacky Poo, He is a Great Dane, isn't he a stud? :)

And here is our family before we moved into our mint chocolate
chip house.  Penny wasn't with us yet!

Our cozy little home during my favorite time of year....
Christmas! (2010)

What is radiant about your life?  We have so much to be thankful for!

The Radiant World of Whimz Coming Soon!

How did "The Radiant World of Whimz" come about?

"Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:"
Hebrews 1:3

One word came to mind when reading this verse...Radiance.  Christ was the brightness of God's glory-he is radiant and thats what I want to bring to you- a world of radiance while acknowledging the most radiant one of all-Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Why a peacock feather?

Well...is there anything more beautiful than nature and God's creatures?  I don't think so, and from a little research, I found that a peacock symbolizes the glory of God.  I immediately knew this was going to be part of my logo.

Why the little dog?

Well...the more you get to know me the more you will understand...I am in love with animals...but especially dogs!  My husband and I have 3 "babies."  We have a black Great Dane named Zackary Singer (Singer after Nicholas Sparks book "The Guardian-If you haven't read this, its a must read, and the reason behind owning a great dane!) he is a sweetheart, a little Boston Terrier named Ickers, and last but not least...Penny.  Penny is Snorkie (half yorkie and half schnauzer).  She is the inspiration behind the little dog you see on every page of my blog and the logo for my etsy shop.  She is the cutest little thing as well as the perfect little "whimsy" character I needed to stand behind my brand and blog.  I hope you enjoy my illustrations of her!

The Radiant World of Whimz desires to bring readers a dose of cozy, a tablespoon of cheer, and a cup full of inspriation which all leads to a beautiful mixture essential to "A Wonderful Life!"  So grab your cup of coffee and join me each day for some fun Do it yourself projects, yummy recipes, house warming organization and cleaning tips, home and gardening ideas and projects, style and fashion, and who knows what else we may "get into" throughout the year.
